Praveen Gupta, nicknamed Pravs, is a leader in the healthcare industry for 10+ years with rich and varied experience in transcription, billing, coding, receivables management, and medical practice management for multi-specialty clinics and in training aspirants in healthcare industry. As Head - Operations & Quality of Macro Outsourcing Pvt. Ltd., a physician billing company, his current focus area is business excellence and process reengineering. He is a specialist in orthopedic coding, physical therapy coding, and consulting. He has also worked as Director – Training & Resource Development for The Prodigious Resources and was instrumental in devising the course contents, educational tools, and guides and in training medical language specialists. He is an author of two books “…the making of a transcriptionist” and “…the making of an editor” aimed at helping aspiring medical language specialists. He regularly provides educational sessions for the billing office staff in addition to the providers and their employees regarding documentation and care issues. He is a certified Nutrition & Wellness Advisor from Nutrilite Health Institute, California. He is an RABQSA certified Six Sigma Black Belt Professional and is currently working on implementing six sigma principles to the healthcare industry. He currently lives in New Delhi, India, along with his parents, his wife Ahuti, and his 1-year-old son Krishna, who is the joy of his life.

Tammy Jones CPC, CPC-H

Tammy has 20 years experience in the Health Care field starting in a rural 3 provider clinic where she performed all necessary functions of the clinical office. In 2000 she acquired her CPC and CPC-H certifications with the AAPC and has been more focused in the coding aspect of the Health Care field since. Not only is her Coding Department responsible for the services provided in the clinics (160 providers with specialties of Primary Care, Obstetrics, Chiropractic, Physical and Occupational therapy, Mental Health, Dermatology, Podiatry, Optometry, and Complementary Medicine) they also review claims from outside providers for any possible coding errors.

Barbara McCoy, CPC

Barbara has over 20 years of medical billing experience, including 10 years as a supervisor for a mid-sized Gastroenterology practice. She has also worked in Opthalmology, Internal Medicine, Plastic Surgery, Orthopedics, Pain Management and Pathology. Barbara has been an officer for the Monroe AAPC Chapter and is currently on the advisory board of South Piedmont Community College. She is a classically trained cellist, however favorite types of music now are those used for healing and relaxation by artists such as Steven Halpern. Barbara and her husband enjoy fellowship with cherished friends through our church and the companionship of two very special Pomeranian pups.

Machelle Morningstar, CPC, CPC-H, CEMC, PCS, COSC

Machelle is a 29 year veteran of the health care reimbursement field, supporting hospitals, physicians and clinics with their coding, coverage and payment needs. Currently employed as Senior Reimbursement Coding Manager, Ms. Morningstar advises clients on coding and reimbursement issues, assisting manufacturers of novel technologies meet their reimbursement goals. Previously, Ms. Morningstar served at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, managing in-patient physician services coding, frequently training physicians and members of the staff on proper coding requirements. Prior to her tenure at this leading healthcare institution, Ms. Morningstar has worked within the institutional and professional settings, providing operational management, coding, and revenue cycle management to large and small operations.

Sarah Reed, CPC

Sarah is the Coding and Compliance Coordinator for Meritas Health Corporation. She has a teaching degree and over 30 years experience in healthcare and 23 years of coding. Currently Sarah provides auditing and education to over 60 providers in Primary Care specialties, Cardiology, General Surgery and Otolaryngology. Sarah was the 2009 president of the AAPC of KC and the 2008 Regional AAPC Networker of the Year.

Sandra Soerries, CPC, CPC-H

Sandra has more than 28 years of experience with hospitals and physician practices. She provides consulting for health care providers, attorneys and other health care organizations in the areas of CPT/HCPCS, ICD-9-CM, medical record documentation and compliance planning and development. Her specific experience includes; 28 years Mental Health, Pain Management, OB/GYN, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, hospital MS-DRG and APC as well as provider-based designation and other specialty practices. She has an extensive knowledge with payers and the processing of claims and collections.

She has developed many coding tools and programs that have been accredited by the American Academy of Professional Coders, Medical Group Management Association and American Health Information Management Association. She is the founder of the AAPC of KC. Sandra provided a two day training program for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Sandra is a certified professional coder (CPC) and certified professional coder-hospital (CPC-H). She is a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), AAPC of KC,), Northland Medical Managers (NMM) and Greater Kansas City Medical Managers (GKCMMA). Sandra received a B.S. degree in business from LaSalle University.

Jane Goostree CPC, CEMC

Jane Goostree is a coder and auditor for Via Christi Medical Associates in Wichita, Kansas. VCMA is a multispecialty practice that employs 50 physicians. Jane earned a CPC credential in 1998 and CEMC credential in 2009. She served as an officer in the Wichita Local Chapter of the AAPC from 2000 to 2004. She has spent most of her 20 year coding career in Family Practice. Jane is currently focusing on Rural Health Care, training new coders, organizing and implementing ICD-10-CM education opportunities for the coding staff.
