eLearning in general is any educational course or webinar that is accessible in an online or electronic environment. Contexo University has designed a suite of eLearning courses with you and your schedule in mind. Our courses offer career advancement to coders and billers in a compact, easy-to-use online environment. All you need is a computer and you’ll be on your way to earning the CEUs necessary for professional growth and development.

Susan Thurston, MA, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-P, CCS-P, CMM, MCS-P, CHCO, RMC

Susan is the Executive Director of Education for Association of Health Care Auditors and Educators and the CEO of Coder’s Connection Inc., a healthcare consulting firm. She has over 40 years in the medical field and holds a Masters in Curriculum Design and has taught for various colleges as adjunct faculty. Susan is certified through AHCAE, AAPC, ARHCP, AHIMA, PAHCOM, MCS-P and is a Certified Healthcare Compliance Officer. Susan has worked in the medical field for over 40 years and provides education and compliance services to physicians and organizations nationally. She has been a PMCC instructor for over 12 years. Having formerly served as a Director of Education for the American Academy of Professional Coders, she has first-hand knowledge of the needs and requirements for medical coders in the industry. As an educator, she has traveled extensively and teaches a wide variety of coding and compliance programs, including classes in academic settings ranging from small practices to four year colleges and universities. A mentor, and motivational speaker, Susan exhibits a highly-regarded passion for the needs of coders, educators, and providers across the nation.
Mary M. Cantwell, RHIT, CPC, CPC-I, CPC-H, CPC-P, RMC Instructor, Health Information Management Systems Approved Instructor, PMCC-American Academy of Professional Coders Approved Instructor

Mary brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as adjunct faculty for Contexo University. Her experience includes 15 years as an insurance claims auditor and 14 years as an administrator for an orthopedic group based in the Midwest. She received her Certificate of Coding and Associates Degree in Health Information Management from the College of St. Mary and possesses a Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). She is an active member in good standing with the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and holds a variety of certifications from that organization. She is an ICD-10 certified instructor and currently teaches a number of coding and billing classes for Metro Community College. Some of her favorite courses to teach include Coding and Billing I, Coding and Billing II, Introduction to Medical Office Billing, Principles of Insurance, Health Data Concepts, and Introduction to Health Information Management. She is the mother of two children and a passionate educator.
Margie Scalley Vaught, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-I, CCS-P, MCS-P, ACS-EM, ACS-OR

Margie brings over 25 years of health care experience to her role as adjunct faculty for Contexo University. She has held the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) designation since 1995 from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), and served as a National Advisory Board member for over 3 years. She has also held the designation of CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician) since September 2000 from American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the Medical Compliance Specialist-Physician (MCS-P) credential since Jan. of 2001. In 2003 she also obtained the credential of ACS-OR Advanced Coding Specialist – Orthopedic. She is a recognized AAPC Approved PMCC Instructor and has served as a technical advisor for several prominent healthcare publishing companies within our industry. As an independent consultant, Margie performs internal audits; education and training of physicians and office staff, and serves as a compliance resource for the clinics and hospitals that she serves.
Dr. Joy Renfro, EdD, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC

Joy Renfro is a professor in the Health Promotion and Administration Department at Eastern Kentucky University where she has taught classes in Medical Coding, Medical Office Administration, Medical Terminology, Introduction to the Health Science Field, and Health Services Administration. Dr. Renfro has served the department as the Program Director for Medical Assisting Technology and has served on the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Task Force for Test Construction for the Certified Medical Assistant Examination and as a AAMA site surveyor for CAAHEP accredited Medical Assisting Programs. She is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association, the Kentucky Health Information Management Association, the Medical Group Management Association and the American Academy of Procedural Coders. Prior to teaching at EKU, Dr. Renfro worked as an inpatient coder and Director of Medical Records for two local hospitals. Dr. Renfro has presented numerous programs related to ICD-10 Coding and Compliance issues facing Physicians’ Offices. She was recently recognized as an ICD-10-CM/ ICD-10-PCS Trainer by the AHIMA and has been appointed as the Chair of the Kentucky Health Information Management’s ICD-10-CM Task Force.
Dean Bradden Blair
Dean Blair oversees all online products and services for Contexo University. Dean Blair has directed every aspect of Contexo University’s eLearning program including management, technology development and automation, and execution. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with a dual major in Psychology and Liberal Arts and Sciences from Utah State University as well as a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Utah.
